About Cirque School LA
In 2009, we took the leap and moved to a new 6,000 square foot studio in Hollywood. Our new home is entirely dedicated to circus arts. In our new space we are able to offer dozens of classes throughout the week spanning a range of circus disciplines from aerial fabric to contortion. In addition, we are fortunate to have frequent specialty workshops taught by experts from around the world.
True to the school’s vision of creating a training community for Anybody with Any Body, Cirque School students are a diverse group with a wide range of ages and skill. The one thing they have in common: many of our students quickly become obsessed – circus training changes their lives for ever.
The Cirque School Philosophy
Class programming was created from Gavre’s combined education in both circus and Pilates over the last 20 years. During her tenure as a Cirque du Soleil aerialist she also became her show’s Pilates coach to aid in her colleagues’ injury prevention and recovery.
Cirque School’s classes are taught by working circus professionals and utilize the best of both professional circus training and Pilates.
This hybrid method helps students gain strength and flexibility, as well as physical and mental wellness, through one of the most intense, exhilarating and safe circus arts programs ever developed.
Walking into the door, you’ll notice immediately that going to Cirque School isn’t at all like going to the Gym. We believe that our classes should be both rigorous and fun. Our teachers strive to maintain a warm, and non-competitive environment.
The Other Facets of Cirque School
Cirque School’s outstanding reputation as a safe and professional learning environment has caught the attention of Hollywood. Cirque School is now the go-to training facility for television and film productions.
Cirque School has provided circus training for Reese Witherspoon and Christoph Waltz on the feature film Water for Elephants. We’ve also provided circus consultation and training for a number of shows including The Cape on NBC, with Summer Glau, David Lyons and Keith David. Cirque School has also supplied talent and served as a venue for shows like CBS’ The Defenders.
Cirque School often serves as a host for both rehearsals and commercial/stage auditions. Vitamin Water, DreamWorks -How to Train your Dragon, L’Oreal Industrial, and Le Ombre have utilized the space as an ideal location for training, rehearsals, and auditions. Self Magazine, the CW Network and ESPN have also utilized Cirque School as a location for photo shoots.
Cirque School also serves as an excellent performance venue. Traction Avenue Orchestra and other charity events have been held at the school- during which both outside talent and Troupe Vertigo members have performed.
